Sir Jim Ratcliffe founded Ineos in 1998 and is on the verge of becoming a major player at Manchester United

After nine months of negotiations, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is on the brink of becoming a minority shareholder at Manchester United.

Ineos are the company which harbours most of the 70-year-old’s wealth. MEN Sport have profiled the business ahead of Ratcliffe’s potential acquisition. In the ensuing decades, Ineos has developed into the fourth-largest chemical company in the world. Philanthropic efforts in recent years include a £100m donation to Oxford University for a new research institute and an increase in hand sanitiser development during the Covid-19 pandemic.
