To encourage participation in the research, ASA has offered cash incentives in the form of lucky draws to those who complete the survey.

As a way of understanding the true potential of the industry, Animation South Africa is calling on stakeholders to take part in a survey that will help create an ecosystem around the industry.

“However, any real understanding of that potential or how to reach it has been hampered by a lack of real data about the industry.”Information such as the size and value, the number of studios and SMMEs and jobs they’re creating, where and how the industry is succeeding or failing, its educational needs and capacity, skills gaps and training needs, opportunities for export potential, co-productions and foreign servicing, value of locally-held IP are among the things ASA is in the dark about.

To encourage participation, ASA is offering cash incentives in the form of lucky draws to those who complete the survey. Students could stand to win R1 500, professionals R2 500 while studios and schools R5 000.Recipe of the day: Garlic Butter MushroomsAccording to ASA, globally, the animation sector is growing at more than 5% annually and is expected to hit around US$642,5 billion by 2030.
