'We are devastated that this has happened at Butlers. They are an amazing company and the initiative of shopping local that they brought in during the lockdown helped a lot of small businesses like us.'

A fire tore through and devastated the building of one well-known Lancashire business, leaving a community in shock as bright flames filled the night sky.

Established in 1932, Butlers have carved a name for themselves in the cheese industry, with their well-known products such as Blacksticks Blue and Sunday Best. Last night and in to today, many local residents and businesses have come together to show their support to Butlers. Karen is the co-owner of the Now't Poncy Food Company, a Rossendale-based business selling sauces and pasta. She alluded to the strength of local business in Lancashire, stating the difficult times they've gone through in the past and how a devastating incident such as this recent fire will be overcome through the power of unity.

Councillors Rachael and Kieren for Longridge posted in to the Your Longridge Facebook group with a statement on the fire and a damning photo of the blaze as it engulfs the sky. It reads: "Our hearts go out to Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses as we wake up to the unfortunate news of a significant fire at their packing plant in Longridge.
