The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 45.74 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 34,945.47, the S&P 500 gained 5.36 points, or 0.12 per cent, to 4,508.24 and the Nasdaq Composite added 9.84 points, or 0.07 per cent, to 14,113.67.
