Firehouse Winery in Shamokin suffered extensive damage in a fire that broke out on April 21.

in Shamokin, Northumberland County, are still in recovery mode more than a week after a fire damaged the building and shut down the business.

The city struggled to find a new owner for the old fire station after Liberty Hose Co. moved its operations into a shared space with Rescue Fire Co., Shamokin, in 2014. Rick Long, of Mount Carmel, bought the more than 100-year-old building and opened the winery in 2016, according to A neighbor who shares a firewall with the building occupying the winery told WNEP that the business was “doing quite well lately” following some recent renovations and improvements.
