Wind Energy Ireland say the wind farms are open to the public, at no cost, all year round and have trails for hiking, walking, biking and running

Wind Energy Ireland is attempting to head off planning challenges to their wind farms across the country by opening them up as tourist attractions.

And Galway Wind Park - which has won multiple awards - boasts 48km of walking trails for visitors of all ages and abilities in unforgettable scenery. Shefflin, along with the Save the South Leinster Way Group, and four-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny hurlers Colin Fennelly, were among 70 submissions lodged with An Bord Pleanana objecting to the Castlebanny wind farm saying the 21 turbines of 185m in height “were unjust and unreasonable” to have gigantic moving structures in close proximity to homes.”

“Wind energy is an Irish success story that benefits communities all across Ireland, supporting jobs, and cutting our carbon emissions and your bills.
