Shoulder injury forces Tete out of Donaire fight via SABCNewsOnline

A right shoulder injury has forced reigning World Boxing Organisation bantamweight championto pull out of a fight against World Boxing Association bantamweight Super champion Nonito Donaire in the semi-finals of the money-spinning World Boxing Super Series .

The fight was set to take place at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana, in the United States of America on Saturday evening . Speaking from Louisiana, Tete’s manager Mlandeli Tengimfene, Tete picked up the injury while doing pad work on Monday.Tengimfene says that they waited until Tuesday this week, hoping that the pain would have subsided, but to no avail.

He added that Tete is devastated with the latest developments after spending the last four months preparing for the fight. Meanwhile, Tengimfene has revealed that Tete still has his WBO title and that they are going to consult doctors in East London once they return home.
