Ray Dalio found that great leaders 'experience the gap between what is and what could be as both a tragedy and a source of unending motivation'

at his hedge fund. Originally, though, the test was crafted for the likes of Elon Musk , Jeff Bezos , Bill Gates , Jack Dorsey , Reed Hastings , and many others. When Dalio read the results for these tech moguls, he found that they all had four things in common.

The second thing they all had in common was vision. Dalio writes that they can all"see both big pictures and granular details and synthesize the perspectives they gain at those different levels."
