ANC with 40% of the voter share, is still firmly in charge of the country.

The African National Congress with 40% of the voter share is still firmly in charge of the country despite the forging of a Government of National Unity . That’s the sentiment expressed by an analyst as a new cabinet comprising 11 parties kicks off its work and the wheels of democracy proceed to turn with the opening of the 7th parliament on Thursday.

Researcher at Accord, Nkanyiso Simelane says, “It just necessitated the GNU to be bold enough to select the political parties they would best work with and choose them and move with them it would have been much quicker and swifter because if for example, there are parties the ANC would’ve just got into a coalition one on one with, in some cases they should’ve chosen two at the most three so I don’t necessarily think it was necessary for more than three to four parties to be a part of government...
