A finance expert has spoken out after an Australian man revealed his major financial decision which left many scratching their heads.

A mortgage broker has shut down an Australian man after he revealed why he did not want to be"tied" to a mortgage.

"I'm gonna have to make a lot more money in markets and then I'm gonna buy one outright cause f*** getting tied to a mortgage," he said. Mortgage broker Rob Roper posted on his TikTok @trusted.finance an explanation as to why getting a mortgage was a smarter financial decision than renting."If you're paying $700 a week in rent, that means you're paying $36,400 off your landlord's mortgage .
