That's what the U.S. economy, like a stew constantly simmering, seems to be doing.in September, experts and markets think both the economy and interest rates will remain warm — if not hot — to the touch.

The neutral rate is the point at which interest rates neither stimulate nor hold back the economy. In other words, the long-term interest rate might end up higher than its historical average.
