Lack of resources and proper strategies to fight poverty remains a major challenge for the Eastern Cape province.

This was highlighted by different organisations as the province marked Children’s Day and launched the disability rights awareness month, at Despatch in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro. These organisations believe some projects that were implemented during COVID should continue, as they proved to be effective.Another major issue highlighted is children who do not have birth certificates.“As the Department of Social Development, I was once here because there are children who are undocumented because where there is this issue, there is a problem of getting grant. Social Development is doing a lot in terms of malnutrition.
