Netflix says that it won't leave Nigeria, its second biggest market in Africa, despite reports to the contrary.

Reports initially arose after Netflix contributor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan claimed Netflix had cancelled a spate of local productions.

Streaming giant Netflix says it isn’t leaving one of its biggest markets in Africa despite rumours to the contrary., that it is planning to exit Nigeria saying that it will continue to invest in producing content in Africa’s largest economy and its second-biggest market by subscribers outside of South Africa.

Rumours initially began spreading from comments made by Nigerian filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, who has contributed to Netflix shows before. Other filmmakers on the panel, of which Afolayan was part, also claimed that Netflix invited several local filmmakers to a “last supper” where it told them it was pulling out of the country.to drive subscriptions, has struggled to capture the Nigerian market in the same way it has seen success in South Africa.
