Despite a persisting gap in bullish US and bearish European market positioning, recent reversals in flows on both sides of the Atlantic have started to close the divide. While long positioning in Nasdaq remains at elevated levels, European flows have become more mixed, with an increase in new long positions easing net short positioning. This suggests a more balanced risk profile for Europe compared to the US, where high valuations create a potentially more asymmetric downside risk.

“The large gap in net positioning on US vs European markets persists but began to narrow after reversals in flows on both sides of the pond,” strategists led by Chris Montagu said in a Monday note.positioning continues to be highly elevated, Citi notes, though ETFs linked to the index have seen minor outflows over the past month.
