Tiramisu desserts have recently become a viral sensation on social media, with many people trying different versions from various cafes. One cafe in particular, Monét in Melawati, has gained widespread attention for its delicious tiramisu. But Monét is more than just its viral dessert. The cafe also offers a range of appealing dishes and drinks. Recently, we had the opportunity to meet Afiq Ashman, the 30-year-old owner of Monét, who previously worked in the aircraft industry.

Many might wonder how a former aircraft worker ended up opening a cafe. Afiq's path to Monét began during the 2020 pandemic when global travel restrictions were imposed. Living in Johor and working in Singapore, Afiq decided to return home to his family, assuming the Movement Control Order (MCO) would last only two weeks. His employer offered him temporary accommodation and meals in Singapore, but Afiq chose to spend time with his family in Malaysia. However, his job situation in Singapore became increasingly difficult, and he eventually had to resign.
