China's sudden ban on Canadian beef and pork imports 'will create a huge financial loss' for the sector that counts the Asian country among its top five international markets.

The group represents Canada's federally registered meat packers and processors, and suppliers of goods and services in the industry. It focuses on international trade as one of its priorities. Last year, China was the second-largest market for pork exports, valued at $514.3 million and the fifth-largest for beef, valued at $97.3 million, according to the meat council.

The government is taking the matter very seriously and an investigation is underway, International Trade Minister Jim Carr told reporters in Toronto while attending the Canada-India Partnership summit.

Looks like Harper made a miscalculation when he reduced government testing and inspections and left industry in charge. How do the faked vet reports affect OUR meat?

Are they trying to get the Huawei CFO that Trudeau politically targeted for arrest released? If not, they’re just wasting time...

Our government? Good luck with that there about as useless as tits on a bull.

Here's a plan stop relying on China. The reason the world resources are being raped by china's over population is a massive cause of our climate emergency. Maybe they need to starve out a few hundred million people so they can rely on their own resources.

Another great job by JustinTrudeau
