LONDON: Britain's finance minister Philip Hammond said on Sunday that he would resign on Wednesday before his expected sacking by the favourite to become Britain's next prime minister, Boris Johnson.

Johnson is widely expected to win the governing, centre-right Conservative Party's leadership contest on Tuesday and be named prime minister once Theresa May resigns the premiership on Wednesday.
