Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has described the business sector as a ‘force multiplier’ in disaster response and emergency operations.

Manila Shake Drill on earthquake drill simulation above an establishment at UP Techo Hub, designated as North Quadrant, July 27, 2019 in Commonwealth, Quezon City.

Belmonte, acting as the city’s “responsible official,” was on the ground with the Quezon City Incident Management Team which was called in by the Ayala management to take over the disaster operations following a simulated Intensity 7 earthquake that struck Metro Manila. She also emphasized the importance of people becoming self-reliant when it comes to disasters and emergencies.
