Already the champions of responsible energy are blasted for even opening their mouths. ‘Shut up. Then shut down.’ That’s the growing message

That’s the growing message for the oil and gas industry as the federal election approaches.

It pointed out that the oilsands have reduced emissions by 30 per cent per barrel over the past two decades. “For them to promote a campaign of self-interest and deception on this scale in an election year is beyond despicable.”For May and her cohorts, the oil and gas industry is illegitimate. It has no right to speak or report its considerable environmental improvements. It is simply outside the realm of democratic discussion.

The Green policy for oil and gas is to wrench the entire economy onto war footing to abrogate provincial rights, prohibit exports and shut down oil and gas except for refining for plastics.Even more alarming is Liberal reaction to any effort by the industry to defend and explain itself. But Liberal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna tweeted: “Straight from Harper’s playbook: Andrew Scheer has been caught scheming behind closed doors with wealthy executives to gut environmental protection laws, silence critics, and make pollution free again.”

Cattaneo is a smart choice. Very knowledgeable about the industry, she’s a hard-nosed reporter who was equally critical of weak company performance and inaccurate activist attacks.

But of course it is OK for those people to drive gas cars, fly in airplanes or but any of the 1000's of products made from fossil fuels.

Oil companies are also Canadians.

Harpies like ElizabethMay and cathmckenna use hysterics and hyperbole to make the energy industry out to be planet-destroying monsters. There are lies, then there are damned lies.

Date this article back a couple hundred years: 'Agriculture industry bemoans treatment from abolitionists, citing humane improvements made to living conditions of slaves.' The Industry is not being silenced they have an entire media empire (that would be you) at their disposal.

No surprise Canada has become a country more concerned with ideology than with solutions It’s always been the case to a certain extent but the farther left and farther right our political discourse moves the less we as a country accomplish.

Is this an opinion piece, written by an oil executive?
