Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara on Monday vowed to look for ways to support the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in its bid to decongest Metro Manila’s major thoroughfares.

The Senate Finance Committee chair said one way of decongesting Metro Manila was to expand and rehabilitate the railway systems, which he believes would make an immediate impact in the lives of commuters and motorists.

Angara noted that the DOTr has already lined up several projects aimed at diminishing traffic in Metro Manila. Once completed, the subway will connect Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay City.
