Digital health startup Maven just hired a former WeWork exec and a healthcare industry veteran to top roles as it launches new services for pandemic-weary parents

Maven, because of its focus on family services, has been the beneficiary of colliding crises: the pandemic and the crunch working families are under. School closures and the lack of available childcare have highlighted how interdependent parents' employment, childcare, and children's health can be for many families.

"Women make a majority of the family's health decisions, and those decisions just got harder," Millsom, who began her healthcare career working as a maternal health volunteer with the Peace Corps, said. "They need resources to navigate those challenges right now, and there's still a really strong alignment for us to deliver that.

During the last financial crisis, Kopelman left Merrill Lynch, where he was a senior director of equity research, to join Time Warner as a vice president focusing on investor relations. He then went on to HBO to head up its financial and strategic planning before landing at embattled startup WeWork as global head of planning.

As chief commercial officer, her role includes overseeing sales and business development with a focus on getting employers on board as Maven customers. Even as more companies opt to cut costs and improve long-term financial outlooks, Millsom said she's certain that Maven isn't one of the benefits on the chopping block.
