If you live in LA or any other metropolitan area get an HD antenna, cost about $30. Free TV channels just like the good old days.

and if you cancel subscription to watch by Roku, the internet service will get down to the point where you want to subscribe again

It's a scam way to add a hidden charge. If they didn't charge for the box, they'd up the price of the TV packages.

I paid roughly that and when it starting having problems DIRECTV tried to charge me $99 to come look at it. I don’t even own it. Got so mad I cut the cord, and switched to hulu ... best idea ever $40 a month vs the $150 I was paying. Best move ever!

Costs as much as a LATimes subscription. Anyways I ordered a Tablo which is an over the air DVR.

We just cut the cord yesterday, and I’m feeling pretty happy with that decision.

Just cancel it. Problem solved

Our bill doubled in a year so I don't think 51 cents will be noticed.
