At the time, Parliament said several upper floor offices and committee rooms were damaged.

The City of Cape Town’s fire and rescue service says the roof of the Old Assembly building at Parliament has collapsed. The City’s JP Smith says the actual Old Assembly Chamber does not appear to be damaged although access cannot be gained, as it may be water damaged.
