In Irving, Sprouts is taking over 23,467 square feet of a building that used to be a Toys R Us. The space was carved up and Total Wine & More is open next door.
The Grand Prairie store will open March 18 on the southwest corner of West Pioneer and South Carrier parkways. That location had been an Alco store and a Fallas Discount store. Sprouts has been spicing up some of its grand openings with events. The Irving store at 7730 N. MacArthur Blvd. is featuring cookbook author and NBC-TV host Danny Seo from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday.
The chain of 370 stores plans to open 14 this year. The two area stores will bring its Texas count to 49 locations, including 26 in Dallas-Fort Worth. on the corner of Abrams Road and Mockingbird Lane in northeast Dallas. An opening date hasn’t been announced.Through the first nine months of last year, the retailer had sales of $4.6 billion and a profit of $208 million. The company said in November that it anticipated full-year sales would be down about 7% compared with 2020, when sales soared during the height of the pandemic and everyone was cooking at home.
I haven’t shopped at Sprouts since they stiffed me on lost money on water machine 15 years ago. I carry a grudge for a lifetime.
