Toyota South Africa says they are not certain when they will resume full production at their Prospecton plant in the south of Durban. This after the company suffered extensive flooding.

In a statement, CEO Andrew Kirby says they are currently implementing a systematic and meticulous phased plan to return this plant to working condition and ensure a safe start-up.

Kirby says the first three phases include the establishment of temporary utilities at the plant, cleaning up and then powering up the machinery.Earlier in April, the company said 500 of its vehicles have passed inspection and will be sold after being assessed forInfrastructure damaged in KZN during floods:

While just 500 of the damaged vehicles have passed inspection to hit the sales floor, the company said it plans to scrap those that did not meet these standards. Leon Theron, senior vice president of sales and marketing, said efforts will be made to increase imports to make up for lost units.
