Victoria's flower industry hopes this Mother's Day will be the advent of the local grower as Australian blooms become a favourite of buyers and demand outstrips supply from overseas.

"The natives have been popular over the last few years. People tend to just come in and grab quick-cut bunches because they know that's a traditional Mother's Day flower," Ms Byrne said."Back in the olden days, chrysanthemums were one of the main flowers that were only available, so I think that tradition has just continued."after a whistleblower at one of Australia's largest online flower retailers said she was trained to deliberately mislead customers.

"We used to do the mixed bouquets beforehand, but say I was doing …10 to 20 a week, it ended up being like 120 a week," she said. It means the microflower farmers have been able to escape the March and April frosts that usually place a time limit on their flowers and pick them in time for Mother's Day sales.

"We'll be most excited about those, and just other things that are still coming on from summer so the last of the phineas, cosmos and some dahlias."

You're slipping . I thought ACONhealth would have instructed that the term 'Birthing Person's Day' would be more inclusive.
