The market would feature multiple food courts, merchandise, a banquet hall and an entertainment center.

Developer Intelli has proposed the 260,000-square-foot project for the former Sears department store at 2180 Eastridge Loop. Intelli head Do Van Tron told the Mercury News that the development would be similar to the indoor markets in Vietnam, such as Ho Chi Minh City’s 110-year-old Ben Thanh Market. The market would feature multiple food courts, with cuisine ranging from Vietnamese to Chinese, Korean and Thai.

“Food halls are extremely popular due to being a one-stop location catering to varying customer tastes,” read the development plans, according to the Mercury News. “One needs only look to a similar concept and popular chain of food halls named Eataly, which is a market and food hall based entirely on Italian cuisine.”
