The lawsuits follow approvals granted this summer for a San Francisco to San Jose link as part of the larger California High Speed Rail project.

for the San Francisco to San Jose link, which involves sharing electrified tracks with Caltrain. The line is projected to open by 2033.are also objecting to the rail agency's plans to acquire land. Per the lawsuit, the High Speed Rail project proposes to acquire"hundreds of acres" of BDI's Baylands site, which the developer purchased some 30 years ago. The authority would build a light maintenance facility on roughly 121 acres.

The developer and the city claim that the facility would operate close to residential uses and"other sensitive receptors" long planned on the property. Their lawsuits allege that the Rail Authority failed to take into account the developer's concerns during a public comment period on the High Speed Rail project's draft EIR.

"We believe that they have failed to comply with state law, CEQA.
