The 1.5-acre 250 Masonic offers a USF property of a similar size directly across the street from a portion of its 55-acre main campus that spans the Inner Richmond and Western Addition neighborhoods. The university’s plans to convert the existing facility there will require a conditional use permit and signoff from the San Francisco Planning Commission.

USF President Paul J. Fitzgerald said in a statement in September that the university had been in discussions with the nonprofit that formerly owned the blood center for a decade,of the university’s academic space in as long. The Irwin Donation Center, the building’s current tenant, will remain in the building through March, per the university.
