The owner of two Dallas restaurants, DaLat and Zalat Pizza, faced both business and personal challenges on the journey, including reaching the United States almost 9,000 miles away, as an 8-year-old refugee following the fall of Saigon in 1975.
Never afraid of a new challenge, after working at MedAssets, Nguyen took a sabbatical and taught himself how to cook. He started concocting multi-course Vietnamese dinners for his family every day. From there, he went on to open his first restaurant, DaLat, which serves late-night Vietnamese dishes in Dallas.
