Gas companies refusing new customers due to 2024 govt ‘code of conduct’ negotiationsGas companies are not taking on new customers due to mandatory “code of conduct” negotiations with the government for 2024, Grattan Institute Energy Deputy Program Director Alison Reeve says. “It’s actually not because of the price cap; it’s because of the mandatory code of conduct which is still being negotiated with the government,” Ms Reeve told Sky News Australia. “Most companies on the east coast who are big buyers of gas have already contracted their gas for 2023, where this problem is about not writing contracts is for 2024 and that’s because that’s after the price cap hopefully comes off and we’re into code of conduct world. “As yet, people don’t have the detail around the code of conduct.” So what's in that code? These companies are playing games so let us nationalise all of the gas companies and see what games they play. No compensation just take it off them.
