Siemens Gamesa, one of the largest global providers of wind turbines, reported Thursday that it had lost a staggering $967 million over the course of just three months.

Overall, Siemens Gamesa's losses reported Thursday represented a more than 100% increase in losses compared to the same period last year, according to the company. Interior Secretary Deb Haaland has ordered her agency to expand offshore lease sales for wind development along the nation's eastern and western coastlines and in the Gulf of Mexico.
