South Korea said that its companies would compensate people forced to work under Japan's 1910-1945 occupation, seeking to end a dispute that has undercut U.S.-led efforts to present a unified front against China and North Korea

The disagreements over labour and women forced into Japanese military brothels have bedevilled ties between the neighbours for decades.

"The soured South Korea-Japan relations should no longer be neglected, and we need to end the vicious cycle for the national interest, for the people," Park said. He said he hoped Japan would respond sincerely, including by "implementing its previous public statements expressing remorse and apology".

Does this mean the forced labor worked for korean companies as directed by Imperial Japan? Why don’t they sue Japan’s royal family for compensation? Send a notice to appear in Korean court and if no show then set penalty & apply sanctions like how US does it.

Koreans are really rich.

Government is generous and forgetful however victims and taxpayers are innocent

Behind the ugly specter of South Korea's continued false claims and demands for money from Japan, we can find the convenience of the U.S. to justify the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by portraying the old Japan as a diabolical state.

are any still alive?

'a united front against China' [sic] The US supremacist PoS coercing their lackeys into their malevolent, confrontational & saber-rattling stance because they can't bear to lose their economic supremacy. The US is the biggest threat to peace in the world & need to be pacified.

That's very reasonable
