Seattle-area business owner Carly Willis said she has 'absolutely' lost business over the 'hog wire' and plywood she installed on her storefront to deter criminals.

Antique Marketplace owner Carly Willis installs 'hog wire' over her store to try and prevent break ins after officials and authorities say there's nothing they can do.is demanding action from the city's leaders over surging crime, as she continues to battle the costly aftermath of a string of break-ins.

"Absolutely. I've lost plenty of revenue," Willis told co-host Ashley Strohmier when asked if the plywood deters customers."I've lost many customers… On that same token, though, much of the community has rallied around us and we get calls and emails daily from people saying, ‘How can we help?’ And I just keep saying… shop small businesses right now because we're struggling.

Willis spoke during a city council meeting earlier this month, pleading with local officials to act within their jurisdiction to"I'm calling on the mayor, the chief of police, to step up and do what is within your power to stop this madness. We, the people are fed up," she said during the meeting.
