The news will help some communities - but others will still be without buses

Bus passengers have been giving their reaction after Lothian Country Buses dramatically stepped in yesterday to take over bus routes axed by McGill's.

Lothian has now come to the rescue of most areas left cut-off due to the changes - however some areas, including Blackridge, will still be left without buses.Diane Scotland, who has been spearheading the campaign, said: “We still have a lot of people who will be cut off across the region, so there is still work to be done.

“I know that it seems many areas are still going to struggle, however, we still don’t know what other announcements may be made, we don’t know the outcomes of the crisis talks which were being held, we do really need to be patient, and I know it’s been a tough time for so many across West Lothian getting to work, home from work, to the shops, appointments etc, we are all in this together.”

And a new Service 74 will operate between Livingston Centre and Fauldhouse via Dedridge, Polbeth, West Calder, Loganlea, Addiewell, Stoneyburn and Bents. This service will run hourly, Monday-Saturday between 7am and 8pm and Sunday between 9am and 7pm. “Lothian Country is proud to be a part of the communities that we serve and our team is absolutely focused on running reliable services for those who rely on us.”
