David Mata, 46, suffered a laceration to his neck after he became caught in a machine as he was performing maintenance.

A man died from his injuries after he became caught in a machine at a food preparation business on the Southeast Side. David Mata, 46, was conducting maintenance on the machine when he somehow became pinned at 10 a.m. Friday at Cuisine Solutions, 8339 Sous Vide Way. Mata was pulled from the machine, and EMS attempted lifesaving procedures, a San Antonio police report states. He died at the scene.

Baby dies at Northeast Side home after it rolls onto its stomach and suffocates Mata was identified Monday by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office. He died as a result of blunt force head and neck trauma, and his death was ruled an accident. In a statement to local news outlets, Cuisine Solutions said they are working alongside local authorities and following all OSHA U.S. Department of Labor protocols as they assess the incident.
