Uber and Lyft did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the protests or workers’ allegations of unfair pay standards.in their IPO prospectuses that reclassifying its drivers as employees would negatively impact their businesses. Low unemployment numbers, but at whose expense?

Never studied this business model... so I bring my own damn car, make money for some guy who developed an app. In return for which I now have to fight over my pay and benefits. What am I missing here? I own the damn car he needs for me to make him money? Huh?
