The Ditsobotla Local Municipality handed over title deeds to residents of Ward 2 as part of the campaign of the municipality to accelerate the restoration of dignity to rightful homeowners on 26 May 2024.in the North West is still not functioning as expected and cannot meet its statutory obligations of providing services to the residents.

This is despite the intervention from the Provincial Government providing administrative and financial support to the ailing municipality.However, according to Local Government MEC, Gaoage Molapisi, the municipal council has rejected the latest assistance from them aimed at dealing with administrative challenges.

“We seconded about five to six people for legal services, for performance management system, for service delivery, security and corporate services. Unfortunately, I am told that council rejected this noble course which is provided for in the constitution because we are not only expected to intervene and take powers or dissolve municipalities, but we are equally so expected to support, and this is what we were trying to do.

The municipality is currently under mandatory intervention after the provincial government invoked Section 139 and of the Constitution.
