The community of Bacup is saddened over the 'end of an era', as its long-standing market is set to close.
Traders have dedicated more than 120 years of service combined to Bacup Market which is due to close on Saturday, December 28. Jayde Holmes, who runs the Rossendale Responsible Animal Rescue stall, said: “I will miss the traders. The post attracted more than 40 comments from the community, expressing their disappointment. One person wrote: “The end of an era. So sad. It’s a pity it could not have moved to Irwell Terrace. The very best of luck stallholders.”
Bacup Market first began in the old Market Hall just off Branch Street and then moved to Union Street. Residents enjoyed Market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays and Flea Market days on Fridays.
