Parents in northern Victoria fear a plan to amalgamate four public high schools will disrupt an entire generation of students.

In 1994, in Moe and Newborough in the state's east, the three high schools in the town, —Moe High School, Newborough High School and Yallourn Secondary College — merged.

Retired Moe High School teacher, Graeme Nicholls, described the process as"successful", but says it took a while to ease parents', staff and students' concerns."The new facilities we got were state of the art facilities … we were able to offer far more choice. The Victorian Government approved initial works for the precinct — which plans to amalgamate three schools — but the community feels it has been left with an unfinished project.

Our education is already terrible. We don't need this as well.

The education Department has already done those studies and found that there is no benefit to larger schools. Education Ministers have promised that large schools will never happen. Liars.

Bigger schools are never better for the learning process or development of juvenile brains. Never!

Here we go again.

Mergers generally happen when business is running out of money. Prison system education is not something kids will look back on with fond memories.

Super schools are fine, however it should be a brand new facility in a location best placed to service everyone, not just an old high school done up.

Bigger is not always better. Personalisation and relationship building will be minimal with a co-host of thousands.

Inclusion is not an illusion
