A year-long investigation by The Age and 60 Minutes raises concerns that Crown is tied up with criminals, and also with the Chinese Communist Party’s attempts to gain influence in Australia.

Former head of Border Force, Roman Quaedvlieg, claims that he was lobbied by two ministers and another MP to help “smooth out” the border security process for Crown’s big gamblers arriving from China.

Zhou is chairman or has a “guiding” role at the “Hubei Association of Australia , the Hubei Chamber of Commerce , and the Huaxing Arts Group of Melbourne ,” the latter reporting directly to the United Front Work Department in China.

The answer may lie in a presentation given by former Turnbull government foreign affairs adviser John Garnaut. Garnaut was for two years the Australian government’s United Front expert, and he worked with ASIO on a still-classified project into the extent of Chinese government interference operations in Australia. The product of that work, the Garnaut Report, was one of the catalysts for Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull to introduce sweeping counter-foreign interference laws in 2017.

Australian officials aware of Zhou’s activities have more recently questioned whether his alleged criminal activities are being overlooked by Chinese officials because of his own patriotic activities in Melbourne.Leaked data and multiple confidential sources reveal that Zhou is connected with a number of elite Communist Party “princelings”.

Where there’s money, there’s corruption!

HkarterKarter Well, who would have thunk it ...

AnnKreger Quelle surprise! Asian billionaires + gambling + massive amounts of money + prostitution + illegal activity + corrupt politicians = Casinos!!!! Who'd a thunk it?

Sophiemcneill thank you so much for your hard work. Incredible investigative report. Overwhelming the tentacles of Chinese triads, gambling, laundered money, & United Front activities in Australia, as well as possible collusion with Aust. politicians etc. Will Crown lose its license? It should

Corruption perpetrated at the highest level by Australian Authorities! What a joke! Australian Border Control, Customs, Regulatory Authorities! The laundering of 'criminal money' is given green light because Australian Government and Crown are set to gain millions of $$$

Who Knew? This situation has been known about for years, many years . Further indication that the connected end of town gets away with whatever it likes with impunity

rainohara1 Wow...fuck

Duh really

Watching this I feel that probably 98% of the worlds population is completely insignificant; even dispensable.

Your own govt has been stealing the wealth of Timor and now supporting the US in stealing the wealth of Venezuela

What a crock of puffed up rubbish this 60 Minutes story is. Just repeating the same vague points.

rainohara1 Corruption at a casino? Really? Omg im shocked.............not 😅

Having a Premier that goes to China personally all the time looks odd........we do have ministers to do a lot of this work. Here's one with the Communist party. Lovely shot.

Pauline was right .

Do you really think that this comes as a surprise to anyone ?

Brothel owner and alleged money launderer is Crown casino's business partnerCrown Resorts paid a brothel owner and alleged money launderer to lure high rollers to its Australian casinos and then provided them with money to gamble, according to court files and officials. You're barely scratching the surface. Does anybody else know? Other Australians deserve to know! This is going to rock Australia to the core! Y'all. These fancy casinos are no different to 'back alley' crimes, they are just glittering well lit dens posing as respectable businesses. Revoke their licences.
