Global data center company CloudHQ buys 123 acres in west Bexar County from UT

The D.C.-based data center provider plans 4 or 5 buildings at the site, which borders a growing Microsoft data center campus.

It would border a

CloudHQ designs, develops and operates “hyperscale” data centers for tenants and has built a dozen facilities in Illinois, Virginia, Brazil, Italy, Germany, Mexico, France and the United Kingdom, according to its website. Hyperscale centers typically house hundreds of thousands of servers and are built for the world’s largest companies.

In 2015, Microsoft acquired158 acres at Texas Research Park from the Texas Research and Technology Foundation to develop a $1 billion, 1-million-square-foot data center. It has since expanded its facilities there and
