Firehouse Winery in Shamokin suffered extensive damage in a fire that broke out on April 21.

in Shamokin, Northumberland County, are still in recovery mode more than a week after a fire damaged the building and shut down the business.

The city struggled to find a new owner for the old fire station after Liberty Hose Co. moved its operations into a shared space with Rescue Fire Co., Shamokin, in 2014. Rick Long, of Mount Carmel, bought the more than 100-year-old building and opened the winery in 2016, according to A neighbor who shares a firewall with the building occupying the winery told WNEP that the business was “doing quite well lately” following some recent renovations and improvements.

“All of us at the Firehouse want to take every opportunity that we have to speak, to pass along our immense gratitude and appreciation to all of the volunteer firefighters that answered the call to The Firehouse Winery on April 21st, 2024.
