Two weeks after Harrisburg City Council rejected the mayor's pick for the construction manager for the Broad Street Market, members reversed course.Council voted 4-3 Tuesday to approve Alexander Building Construction Co. as the company to oversee the rebuilding of the Brick Building, which was heavily damaged by a fire last summer.'One of the hallmarks of leadership is the ability to change your mind when presented with new information,' said Eric Hagarty, chair of the market.
We are beyond grateful for all those who spoke out and showed up to express the urgency for getting this project underway. We also respect the concerns of those whose position remained unchanged. We hope the community remains engaged and energized as it relates to the myriad other issues facing Harrisburg, including gun violence, homelessness, and the need to bolster our education system so that we can continue to build a better community for everyone.
