Japan stocks lead gains in Asia as Nikkei climbs more than 2% in return from holiday

Asia-Pacific markets stayed mixed during Tuesday morning's trading session, following a fluctuating session overnight in the U.S. as investors prepare for key inflation data.

Traders await Wednesday's consumer price index for July, a key indicator of the health of the U.S. economy.
