Lebanese ambassador Rami Mortada has told Sky News the Middle East is the closest it has been in 50 years to a regional war that would 'spare no one'.He said Israeli 'war crimes' have put the region on 'the brink of an all-out war'.Benjamin Netanyahu was holding the 'whole region hostage' to avoid his own political fate, said Mr Mortada.
'So he needs to put his country continuously on a path of war and violence, because the moment he stops, he would face the consequences internally.'Asked if he had a message for the Israeli people, Mr Mortada said that if they want peace, they must elect officials who respond to peace initiatives.
