Newsweek brought together a panel of artificial intelligence experts on Wednesday night to discuss the relationship between AI's potential climate breakthroughs and the large energy consumption required to arrive at them.
She pointed to implications for water use, land competition and environmental justice considerations.Also, she added that broader considerations around AI concern the usefulness of why it is being utilized.'We have to be thinking about: Are the things that we're using AI for actually effective or actually useful. And usefulness is in the eye of the beholder, right?' she said. 'Depending on who you're talking to, usefulness might be making profit.
