Carangi's Bakery was established in 1996, and it's a South Philly staple. However, on Thursday, a fire broke out at the bakery, destroying the building."I eat here a lot. Carangi's is a neighborhood spot, so I come here like three or four days a week," said Justin Haskell. "Flames ripping through the roof with the neighbor's house on fire as well. It was bad, it was bad here.
"When you're grilling, gas grill? That is what it sounded like, the same thing. It went 'whoosh' noise, and the minute I heard that, I thought maybe they put their ovens on, but then I'm sitting there, and I saw the smoke. Then I ran upstairs and grabbed my kittens."She was home alone at the time when she heard fire engines even before she smelled smoke.
