China insists that a star Premier League player who criticized China's crackdown on Muslims was 'blinded by fake news' and invites him to Xinjiang to see the detention centers for himself

China on Sunday pulled coverage of Arsenal's match against Manchester City in response to the criticism., Chinese fans on microblogging site Weibo lashed out at Ozil's posts, with one user saying that they contained "malicious disinformation to provide a cheap excuse for extremism."

Arsenal quickly distanced themselves from the 31-year-old German-Turkish player, saying that the club "has always adhered to the principle of not involving itself in politics." On Monday, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang responded to the controversy, urging Ozil to "come to see Xinjiang for himself."

"I don't know if Mr. Ozil has been to Xinjiang personally. But he seems to have been deceived by fake news, and his judgment has been influenced by untrue words," Geng said, according to state news agency"We welcome Mr. Ozil to come to Xinjiang, and walk around to have a look," Geng added. "So long as he has a conscience, can tell right from wrong and maintain an objective and impartial attitude, he will see a 'different' Xinjiang.

A country that does not seek progress. I am just grateful that Hong Kong was once ruled by the British, otherwise Hong Kong people will become a group of unreasonable poor people.

are you having a laugh? He ain’t going to china that’s a one-way ticket you fool LOL

China is not only a liar but also a kidnapper, murderer and organ harvester. China is sending a death threat to Ozil.

CCP really likes to re-educate anyone with different views. No matter who you are.

If that was fake news, China should invite amnesty & other organizations to visit the camp or open the camp for public visits

evil China will lock Ozil up and “re-educate“ him

Are you kidding? Everyone knows that once an Uyghur enters Xinjiang, they will never come out in one piece.

To see or to die in the concentration camps? StandWithOzil StandwithUyghurs

Wonder if MesutOzil1088 can return London safely He will face what the Muslims suffered if do so StandwithUyghurs StandWithOzil

Then the whole world except CCP are blind by the 'fake news'

It reminds me what pewdiepie said. So now CCP is inviting Özil to detention camps in Xinjiang, right?

StandWithHK StandWithHongKong

Just how the whole world is blinded by fake news that 1989 Tiananmen massacre ever happened, right!? What a joke China!

PPPonGo

Yet Özil’s character was removed in the Chinese version of winningeleven. This is China. They said all the nice words and did all the dirty jobs.

全球只有中共對,反對的都是錯……那全球只有中共是人類嗎?

Dear Uyghurs, be strong and outlive the CCP together. StandWithOzil StandwithUyghurs

Fake news? Tell NY Times and the CCP whistleblower that leaked the Xinjiang documents then. Detailed objectives and execution plans against Uyghurs were mentioned in those documents. Y'all can read it again here:

Suppressing the freedom and rights of its people and spreading the fake news are the ways that CCPChina choose to stabilise the country. Shameful.

1984inChina He may disappear forever.

Oh yea, only ccp’s news is “real”

Everything is fake news except for Chinese regime propaganda. I see. antitotalitarianism BoycottChina

Well, detention centres are different from concentration camps. And hostility of the CCP and its people towards Uyghurs is real. Just read their horrendous comments on Uyghurs on social portals. CCP just can't deny it. Hope the world will stand with the oppressed till the end.

How about to invite US army and UN peacekeeping to Xinjiang to inspect? They may have also been blinded by fake news.

I’m afraid when Özil comes back from Xinjiang, he won’t be the same Özil anymore.

Invite Ozil to concentration camp, and brainwash or even kill him?😨

Free world is blinded by CCP ‘s fake news before. But everyone has realised the truth now

Fake news? The leaked documents say otherwise

There will be stability without concentration camps

Chinazi loves to refuse all things not favor to them... even thats us the truth... humanrights HumanRightsDay

China is not only a liar but also a kidnapper, murderer and organ harvester. China is sending a death threat to Ozil.

Then, he will see the truth about CCP's crime like Olsi Jazexhi.

Do u Believe CCPthe biggest liar on the world~! Hell No~! antichinazi BoycottChina

JanetTeddy111 We all know who the biggest fake news generator is CCP

Who dare to go, the world is watching. Only the people who live in fake news world don’t know how poor in Xijiang FreeHongKong

Going there to be detained?

Yeah, that’s not going to be a ‘fake tour’ PR set up at al! Geez, be more obvious!

It would be fun if players from EPL teams had something to say and China banned EPL games

Mix of threats & invitations of hospitality? China threatens football league Arsenal, bans games, advise they sell Ozil - but also offer him to visit China? MesutOzil1088 don't go to Xinjiang, it's a difficult place, & China has history of detaining foreigners.

I agree. By supporting those fake muslims who commit terrorism he is supporting terrorism itself. Lots of westerners are blinded by fake news. Business Insider is one of the fake news.
