'I set up a beauty business from my kitchen – and now it’s made £10m and I employ my two daughters'

To this day, the businesswoman still has a manufacturer to blend the collagen who then sends it over to a packaging company before it arrives at Maxine's home where she sends it out to customers.

In her first year, Maxine turned over an impressive £1m and is now on track to turn over 10 times this amount by the end of her third financial year - having sold 30,000 units a month in 2019.

She said: "Me and my daughters were in Dubai last year visiting a distributor out there and Darcy said a woman said, ‘I’m 50-something years old, I’ve never been told I’m beautiful and I’ve been told I’m beautiful twice in one week.’ When people say things like that, it’s just like ‘oh my god, that’s amazing.’"Maxine Laceby
